Use A Reverse Phone Lookup To Protect Your Phone From Unsolicited Calls
December 30th, 2008 Filed under: Cell Phones — Cell Phone AuthorSo few people these days make use of landline technology. Just a decade ago, a local phone book would have produced the name and number of almost anyone you wanted to call. These days, due to the increasing popularity of cell phone usage, that same search is likely to leave you empty handed. Online cell phone directories, however, offer a reliable alternative.
Â
While cell phone companies do not publish public directories containing their customers’ information, data providers offer private databases that are commonly used by reverse phone search services on the internet to look up a person’s name using a phone number. Cell phone holders typically move to mobile technology because they enjoy the privacy that comes along with the higher premium. Since it is illegal to perform forward searches on cell phone numbers, mobile phones have become an increasingly popular alternative for people fed up with unsolicited calls from telemarketers. Reverse phone number lookups however, are fully within the boundaries of the law and provide the opportunity to lookup a cell phone owner through a backwards search.
Â
Most phone number search sites are quite similar. You’ll be asked to set up an account with the company. To perform a search all you have to do is enter the ten digit number you’re looking for and select the search function. In just a few seconds, you’ll have access to both the account holder’s name and his or her current address, if available. In some cases, you’ll get additional information too.
Â
It’s important to note that less-than-reputable sites suggest you’re going to be able to access a full cell phone directory from their website. When you reach the site, however, you’re typically only going to have access to reverse lookup technology, so be wary of anyone who offers you more.
