Jitterbug J Senior Phone – Simple, Easy Cell Phone For Seniors

June 24th, 2009 Filed under: Uncategorized — Cell Phone Author

It may not have the cool factor of an iPhone or a Blackberry, but the new Jitterbug J cell phone doesn’t have the complications associated with these phones either…and that’s the point. The form factor of the new Jitterbug J is slightly thinner than the previous Dial model. The keys are also raised a bit more so they’re a bit more distinct for each number.

Everyone’s favorite feature though is the new ability to port your previous cell phone number from another service to the Jitterbug. With the previous model, the inability to move your current cell phone number to the Jitterbug service was one of the biggest reasons why consumers wouldn’t switch to the Jitterbug.

Seniors now have the ability to use cool Bluetooth headsets (and Bluetooth car kits) with the Jitterbug J like all their children and grandchildren do with their cellular phones. It’s about time. Senior citizens need to go hands-free like everyone else, especially in their cars.

We’re not sure how often this feature will be used, but text messaging is now included with the phone. You can now at least receive messages from others…we doubt that many will be sending text messages from this new phone.

Besides a brighter screen and call waiting, the new Jitterbug J has the option for premium voice mail (voice activated, unlimited storage, and no access code required). There are new optional services available that some will find convenient like a “Live Nurse” and “Roadside Assistance”.

Overall, the new Jitterbug J is a fantastic simple cell phone for seniors that now incorporates many of the basic features that other cell phones/services provide. We especially like the ability to keep your old cell number when switching to the new Jitterbug and the Bluetooth hands-free option is a great safety feature for all who are on the road.
