The Cell Phone Giant

A new TV commercial for that cell phone service which brags about “the Network” is taking an unwarranted potshot at cell phone holsters.  They boast that while other services, when signing you up, will often offer a holster along with their push-to-talk phones, theirs offers you “the Network” (You know, those hundreds of people who eerily follow you around if sign up with them).

Granted, cell phone companies that offer free holsters usually offer only the most basic, cheapest-made models.  They’re usually some cheap plastic that does an inferior job of imitating leather.  They crack and crease easily, and ifyou brush against a hard surface, don’t really do that much to protect the unit self.

But just because there are inferior holsters is no reason to diss the concept itself.  After all, one of the biggest problems people have with their cell phones is the unintended drop or bang.  A good holster protects your investment against this damage.

So the next time you’re offered a choice between a good holster to protect your cell phone against damage and a bunch of zombies who follow you around on your “Network,” remember that the biggest network in the world doesn’t help if you’re phone is broken.
