The Samsung Omnia 2 has made waves in the world of touch screen smartphones. Power packed with features and high on style, the Samsung Omnia II is one among the best mobiles in the market.

Appearance and Display

This new Omnia phone has a sleek and stylish look. The screen is framed by a black mirror. Matt finish on the key pads prevents fingerprints from accumulating. The display screen of the Samsung Omnia 2 is quite large and at 3.7 inches dominates the front panel of the mobile. The display screen has a very good resolution of 480×800 pixels and also possesses AMOLED display with 64k color support. The result is that you get clear pictures with vivid colors. A 3D cube at the bottom center of the front panel is used to navigate the screen. The screen also supports touch screen technology.

The phone works on Windows OS.

Camera and Video

The Samsung Omnia 2 has a 5 mega pixel camera having dual-LED flash which can also be used as a flash light. The camera has features auto focus, smile and face detection, geo-tagging, image stabilization, (WDR) etc. Video recording at a speed of 15 fps is also available. DivX/XviD formats are supported by the video player.

The Omnia II’s picture gallery is a must see. Images are stored according to month. You can view images in grid, slideshow or 3 D arc formats. Simply run your fingers along the thumbnails and click on the one you wish to view. Tapping at one point on the image will give you an enlarged view of that portion.

Battery

The Samsung Omnia II has a 1500 mAh battery with 480 hours of standby time.

Internet

This new samsung phone supports HSDPA, Wi-Fi etc and offers you a great browsing experience using the phones Opera browser. You can find bookmarks displayed like a stack of cards. Sweep your finger across the stack to choose one f your choice and click on it to launch the page on the browser.

Media

A major attraction of this mobile phone is the six sided 3-D cube on the display screen. The cube displays key features, such as Main menu, Camera, Photo album, Music player, Video player, games or web browser. Flip the cube with your finger to choose the feature of your choice and click on it to open the application.

Motion UI

Another key feature of this mobile is the fact that you can access multimedia favorites and speed dials by tapping, shaking or titling the handset. You can switch the motion UI on or off as you wish.

Application Store

The phone has an application store where you can find and download several useful applications.

Picture Frame

You can use it to display date and time with cool images and even music in the background.

GPS Navigator

The Omnia 2 has a GPS receiver and also supports A-GPS.

Other Features

These include audio jack, 8/16 GB internal storage memory, organizer, calendar, phone book, polyphonic ring tones etc.

    Garmin products always impress me with their high quality. Not at lease because of this but unfortunately they are not the cheapest devices available. But regarding their quality I think the price is generally worth paying.
